The first visit to the dentist<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It is important to get your children used to the dentist at an early age. You can simply take your children to your own check-up so that their teeth are also “counted”. However, if you are very afraid of the dentist yourself, you should not tell your child any negative stories about the dental treatment and make a separate appointment. When a child visits the dentist for the first time, we take extra time to show the child the treatment room and explain everything. If the child still does not open its mouth, we will wait until the next appointment. There is a small reward from the treasure chest for opening the mouth. <\/p>\n

Oral hygiene at home<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As soon as the first tooth breaks through, it should also be brushed. Use the smallest children’s toothbrush and children’s toothpaste for this. Children’s toothpaste contains slightly less fluoride than adult toothpaste, as children swallow toothpaste more often. You should also let your child brush their own teeth relatively early on, but still brush them every time they brush. Children can only brush their teeth on their own when they can write fluently, i.e. when they are around 7-8 years old. However, the first permanent teeth break through behind the last milk teeth at the age of 6. Make sure that these teeth are brushed well right from the start! <\/p>\n

Function of the milk teeth<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The milk teeth have a placeholder function for the permanent teeth. It is essential to keep them healthy, as premature loss can cause misaligned teeth in the permanent dentition. In addition, severely damaged milk teeth can damage the germ of the permanent teeth. When you brush your child’s teeth, you should also keep an eye out for color changes. A small caries on a milk tooth can usually be treated painlessly and without much effort, even when children are still very young. <\/p>\n

Nutrition<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It is important that your child eats a healthy diet with as little sugar as possible. In addition to unhealthy sweets, you should pay particular attention to what your child drinks. Sweet drinks should be avoided at all costs, as drinks are consumed throughout the day and therefore cause many acid\/sugar attacks. Sweet drinks also include juices and juice spritzers. If your child is to have sweet drinks at all, make sure that they are only consumed with the main meals. It is also important that your child consumes fluoride, as this strengthens tooth enamel. It is advisable to use two different sources of fluoride. One is the fluoride in toothpaste. Another source of fluoride can be fluoridated table salt or fluoride tablets. <\/p>\n

Misaligned teeth<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Misaligned teeth can be caused by bad habits such as thumb sucking or the premature loss of milk teeth. There are also inherited malocclusions or malocclusions caused by cleft lip, jaw or palate. If your child’s teeth appear to be misaligned, we will refer you to an orthodontist who will then decide whether and when orthodontic treatment should be carried out. <\/p>\n

Tooth brushing school<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Together with your children, we check how they brush their teeth and practise the correct brushing technique with them to prevent tooth decay in the first place.<\/p>\n

Anesthetic treatment<\/strong><\/h3>\n
